Week 8 – The Seven Day Mental Diet

The weight loss diets I never stuck with very long because of the various foods and preparation were more of a hassle than help. Plus I didn’t like fixing 2 meals at each meal time because my husband wouldn’t eat the diet food.

The diet I’m talking about today is the Seven Day Mental Diet that I started as part of the MKMMA. It is one that is more challenging than anything I’ve tried. It is one where we are to control our thoughts and not allow any negative mental thoughts come into our head. Emmett Fox, in his great work, the Seven Day Mental Diet, indicates that we must not dwell on any negative thought, and if we do, we must restart the diet in a few days. A negative thought is any thought of failure, disappointment, or trouble; any thought of criticism, or spite, or jealousy, or condemnation of others, or self-condemnation; any thought of sickness or accident; or, in short, any kind of limitation or pessimistic thinking. Wow! No wonder it will take an abundance of prayer, training and practice, practice and more practice.

We must train ourselves in the habit of thought selection and thought control to carry us through when we are preoccupied or off our guard as well as when we are attending to business. Negative thoughts drift into our minds of their own accord all day long but do not matter as long as we do not entertain them.

When we master the Seven Day Mental Diet, we have changed our mind and our conditions have changed also. We are transformed by the renewing of our minds.

I am looking forward to this change. “I can be what I will to be”.
